Delete your Hangabout account

This page explains how to delete your Hangabout account and what happens to your information when you do. Hangabout is operated by Lachlan Dowd.

In the app (fastest)

Open Hangabout and sign in.
Go to Me → Settings → Delete account.
Type your username to confirm, then tap Delete my account.

It takes effect immediately.

Without the app

If you no longer have the app, email support@hangabout.app from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We'll confirm the request is yours, delete the account within 7 days, and reply when it's done.

What is deleted

Your profile: username, photo and email address
Your sign-in
Your logbook: every route you logged as tried, sent or flashed
Your saved routes
Your notification settings
Your gym memberships

What is kept, without your name

Your ratings and Mystery grade guesses stay in each route's totals. That way, the setters' feedback and the gym's numbers don't change after the fact. They can no longer be linked to you.
Routes you set (gym staff only) stay on the wall, without your name on them.

Backups held by our database provider are overwritten on their normal cycle.

Staff accounts

If you're the last owner or manager of a gym, hand that role to someone else first (in the web admin, Settings → Staff). The app won't delete an account that would leave a gym with no one able to run it.
